Dietary Preferences Of Farlowella (Twig Catfish)

What foods do they prefer?  I know their first choice is obviously algae but between him and or bristlenose algae doesn't have much of a chance in our 30 gallon tank.  He doesn't seem to be very interested in shrimp pellets, algae wafers, or anything else we've tried so far.  Maybe he's not hungry but I want him to be happy.

Try putting boiled peas, lettuce, carrots

They are nocturnal aren't they? if you drop in an algae wafer after the lights have been turned out he will probably come out for it then
