i was in the fish shop today and the guy tried to sell me the expencive test everything sort of kit.the things it claimed to measure where the usual ph amonia and nitrates but he then said something i had not heard before and i have just seen them listed in another thread. kh and gh could anyone please tell me what they mean or where to find info on them?

hi :D

those symbols are for the hardness of your water...salt & mineral deposits..
GH + general Hardness
KH ( I don't remember, sorry)

Usually a good LFS will test that for you if you take a sample in..I don't usually test for it though just test for ammo , nitrites, nitrates & the PH

hope this helped... and if anyone could tell us what the kh stands for we'd appreciate it :D

ahh i see i think i will start saving up for the kit then it would be nice to know what the hardnesses where in the tank.i think i get about 300 tests or something and the kit is something like £21
