Hey Guys,

I have a pair of convict cichlids that have spawned in my 29g. Some eggs were layed on the side of one flower pot where the mother guarded them, and some were inside a flowerpot across the tank where the father guarded them. The father stayed in the flower pot with half of the fry until they were free-swimming, which then he herded them over to the other half where the mother stayed. At this time, both were showing full color and seemed to get along fine. A few days later the mother started chasing the father away from the babies, and the father hasnt been "allowed" near them ever since. It has escalated to where if the mother sees him at all, she attacks. Will she be like this forever, or just until the babies are grown? Should I get a divider for the tank for now?

Thanks
Ryan

She will probably stop chasing him when she no longer feels the need to protect the fry.

Dither fish!... Convicts will breed in a bucket... good luck with rehoming the fry!!!
