I may be wrong, but..

That "pregnant molly" is actually a balloon molly. They're always that size. Cant even imagine a pregnant balloon molly!

And once again I may be wrong, because livebearers are really my specialty, but arent Tiger Barbs egg layers? She is probably laden with eggs.

But hey, I may be way off track.

u said you specialise in livebearers so i thought ud be the best person to ask.
i bought two female platy's two days ago-whe i got them the bloke said there was a high possability that one or both would be pregnant as there were males in thank with the females. how do i know for sure that ive got a pregnant one? one of them has got a black colour on belly and the other one doesnt,i have no idea what kind of platy they are-they are a silery blue colour, still really new at this lol also if she is pregnant, how long is the pregnancy? and i would want to seperate her from the rest when she has them and have the tank thingy that goes in the water so need to know when/if i should put her in there.

thanx :)

Yeah, they pregnant mollie is a ballon molly, which is slightly misleading as any regular molly that big would surely die from being backed up ( I've seen it happen). Also, atleast 3 of the female in the first pic are pregnant. Some of the pictures wont show up.

Welcome to the forum Fudgecake. You won't be getting an answer from Dakota Ice. The last time they logged in was in June 2006.
Any female platy in a mixed tank is very likely to be carrying fry. The typical total time from being fertilized to dropping fry is about 4 weeks. There is no telling where we should start the clock on your females, so it is best to think of it as the drop being due within the next 4 weeks but not on any particular date.
