hello

i need some help so any advice would be much appreaciated.

i want to go from having plastic plants to real plants.

what do i need and where do i start. will gravel be ok to have plants or would i need some kind of soil underneathe

thanks

have a 20 gall tank with twin T5 lights. very bright.

although getting a 180litre so thats the one i will be setting up.

would sand be ok aswell.

also would i just root the plants in gravel as if it was a plant in a plant pot

thanks

lighting is ok.

sand is fine

when you buy plants, some just come with a piece ok wool type thing around the roots with a piece of metal holding it together. remove the wool and metal before putting it in the tank. however you can leave the metal on to help keep the plants rooted at the bottom.

if the plant comes in a pot. remove the pot and the sourrounding wool, being careful not to brake any roots. then likewise you can wrap a piece of metal around to help them sink

just carefuly put them in the gravek/sand so the roots are covered

i dont think co2 would be necessiary unless you plan to have alot of plants

i have 10 induvidual plants sucessguly growing with no co2

ok well that helps alot.

will try that and see how that goes.

thanks alot much appreaciated.
