Wonderful!

Am going to visit this store for sure at first chance i get! :)

Ch4rlie gets his own thread?!

Wow.  I can't say I'm not a little jealous.

I got one too eagles. :p

I wish we had stores like that in Australia. :(

Ha ha eagles, it's my way of 'tagging' without a pm :)

Lol

Me and the missus have already spoken about visiting that LFS in Cornwall.

We've agreed we will go to Cornwall for a long weekend before the baby is born, the calm before the storm! :X
So end of this month is a good possibility! :)

Thanks for that Shelster

Hmm, well I went on Wednesday, but to be honest, I wasn't overly impressed at all :(

I certainly didn't buy a betta from them.

They used to have a fab betta barracks to display their bettas in, but don't have this in the new shop.
Instead, their bettas were in with Gouramis, Molly's, and a tank also holding those albino toads - poor things we being nipped.
A huge shame really as I think they are trying to go more specialised. - they had arowanas, and fire eels.

It also wasn't quite as big as I was expecting - I don't know, maybe my expectations were too high.

I really think they should of kept the betta display tank.

They also had tubes down the back of the glass which fish were getting caught in on numerous tanks - bit of a design fail there :(

Ah, that does sound a little bit disappointing to be honest, we're still going to Cornwall though, and I may just pop in and have a nosy around anyway.

Tubes on rear of tanks where fish are getting caught in sounds a bit of ill thought out set up. :(

I did mention it, and said they would lose a lot of stock that way as he did fish them out with an airline hose, but as I walked further down the aisle loads of tanks with fish small enough were getting caught :(

Tempted to pop back in to see if they have done anything about it......

Sorted, booked a nice B&B for a long weekend in Penzance, Cornwall at end of this month :)

So will pop into that LFS over that weekend since Penzance is not all that far away from Pool.

I'll be giving my opinion on that LFS and see if they still have these ill designed pipes in the tanks, hope not though.

Thanks for that Shelster

Ooh lovely, hope the weather stays nice for you!

Yes, let me know. I haven't been in since.

Went to that LFS last weekend :)

Have to say I was fairly impressed with this LFS, everything was clean, tidy and organised.

All the tanks were clean and water quality looked good, fish were looking healthy and not one single dead fish in any tank.

Marine section looked good as well, although i know every little about marine but their setups looked well maintained and looked a fairly impressive variety.

Loved their fire red shrimps and cleaner shrimps, looked soooo nice :)

Plant section was clean but not much choice to be honest, they did have Giant Vallis which i have not seen in any LFS to date, so was pleased to see that, but they did have non aquatic plants in the tanks, dracaena type plants which are more sub-aquatic, i groaned at and wished these plant are not so commonly found in LFS and sold as aquatic plants tbh.

And your comment about pipes in the tank, I didn’t see anything unusual or anything to be particularly concerned about.

Pic below shows a typical tank, so not sure if thats what you saw in regards to pipes last time you were in there?

  Sorry!

All in all, a good LFS that has a good range of equipment, including a decent reptiles section.

Prices a little on the high side bt not unduly so and all seems pretty good! A good recommendation Shelster :)

I'm pleased to say that on that photo it looks like they have acted on it! Can't see the pipes at all.

They may have moved them from all tanks then, as although the shrimp were enjoying a hidey-hole, unfortunately 70% of the tanks also had a stuck fish! That is :good:

Hope you enjoyed your holiday :)

That's excellent then if the LFS acted on the open pipes you saw. Am pleased to hear that :)

Sounds like a decent LFS all in all.

So I would certainly recommend this LFS on that basis for anyone who is in Cornwall, worth a visit at least :)

BTW did really enjoy Cornwall, a good long relaxing weekend and lovely countryside and lots of nice harbour towns.
