I have a bag of live sand I had accidentally bought and Iā€™m thinking of deep cleaning/rinsing it in order to use it for my Betta fish. I know live sand should never mix with freshwater, but is there any way I could kill the live sand to make it safe for my Betta? (Extra Info: I have a halfmoon dumbo male in a 10gallon, but Iā€™m thinking of adding 5 neon tetras OR white cloud minnows in the future. The sand is the ā€œOcean Direct Caribbean Live Sandā€) Thank you!

the sand is beach sand and will make the water go alkaline, this is not good for bettas because that don't naturally occur in alkaline water.

just get some course river sand from a nursery, rinse it well and use that.
