Need help with a new tank... It's a small 1 gallon tank with an air pump through the center that keeps making a PROFUSE amount of bubbles! The tank was rinsed, no soap involved, and there are rainbow, soapy-looking bubbles covering the surface of the water and pouring out the top... Anyone know what it could be or any recommendations??

Thank you! :)

Kristine

Bubbles are commen on a new aquarium. It's just the water being agitated. They will go away in a few days. But the fact that they are "rainbow like" is a little more disturbing. Could you please post a picture or explaine them in detail to me?

Thanks! Zophie

Welcome to the forum Kris.
Soapy looking bubbles like that are often the result of some form of organic material. Do you have fish in that tank that you have been feeding? It is possible there is just a bit more fish food than is needed. Fish food contains oil that could leave a film on the water and a strong agitation could cause it to form bubbles.

OldMan is right. Could you mabey post a picture so we could asses the bubbles better?
