Once they sink they are spent and pH will begin increasing again.

and same holds true for peat moss and even driftwood, but don't take my word for it, calibrate your pH monitors and see it with your own eyes

Hi, they are both in a 10 gallon but partitioned and he was on the filter side so it was more turbulent (surface wise) where he was but not a torrent by any means, I know this species bettas included, do not like much flow, now when I say was I found he had breached the partition this morning and made his way over to the females side and they are both getting on rather well and I have placed another almond leaf in so we shall see how things progress from there

This is the top of my 2 foot,  The IAL in the right hand corner is sitting on some floating Water Sprite, It has been there for almost 2 weeks. I let my IAL rot in the tank I never remove it.
