Please do some research into Excel before deciding to bombard a tank with it. If you are not sure where to start in this respect, start by Googling "glutaraldehyde"

If you get stuck you can read this interesting article http://www.oscarfish.com/article-home/equipment/114-buyer-beaware-seachem-excel.html

I have used this product for over a decade. Despite Seachem suggesting the dose after a water change be 5 ml/10 gals. and 1 ml/10 gals other times, I have never dosed it at a rate above about 2.4 ml/10 gals of water. I also have only used it once a week after water changes.

Directions
On initial use or after a major (> 40%) water change, use 1 capful (5 mL) for every 40 L (10 gallons*). Thereafter use 1 capful for every 200 L (50 gallons*) daily or every other day. Dosing may be slowly ncreased in high-growth aquariums. For smaller dosing please note that each cap thread is approximately 1 mL

Re: Prime Overdose and Excel Together
Hello NicciL,
You are correct that you should not dose Prime together with Flourish Excel because they are reducing agents. If you are cycling you can add Prime every 48 hours; no need to add it daily. It is better to be safe and not use them both; especially at the higher doses.
