My tank before I switched the substrate. I forgot to take a picture before I started siphoning once my fish were removed....

My fish sitting very patiently in their heated bucket :|

And my new sand substrate is done! Just waiting for the rest of the water to clear and get back to temperature before I add my fishy friends back into their home! Tank pretty much looks the same, but I sure do like the look of the sand now that this is all said and done. Hopefully my fish like it as well! I'll post one last pic once the fish are all settled!

UPDATE!
I was able to place everyone back in the tank before bed, I was just too tired to post it earlier :D

Nice, like the plant pot caves and wood with what looks like a variant of anubia :)

That elodea plant will grow like a rocket once it settles and matures a bit. I started witha bunch of maybe 4 or 5 stems, each about 6 inches long, regularly get bunches around 2 to 3 feet long, sometimes longer, terrific easy plant. Though must admit I no longer keep this in my tank anymore but its a good standby plant to know that will grow fast if needed.

Btw, you plan to put on a background?

But good job though ;)

Believe it or not its just one anubias plant on the wood, it grew like a weed :D

I've thought of a background but I can't decide if I want themed or to go with just black. I'm terrible with designing decisions! I've got some small anubias glued to the back caves and one on the roman column ornament and they are taking their sweet time to grow. Know any other good plants that are a bit easy to keep? I've thought about adding java fern or water wisteria but I'm not too sure about them :p

Looks great. A dark cave type back drop would look great back there. Like finding a hidden world. I think petsmart has a really neat one.

Gorgeous! I thought for sure your plants were artificial because they look so perfect!
LOL some of them ARE fake. The only real ones are the anubias and the little... thingy in the sand. I'm slowly switching to a planted tank :D

That explains it lol. I started with just fake plants too, and have since replaced theme with real ones. Well, except for my bright orange phony anemone. I love the colour too much to let it go just yet.
