Hi guys, I have a 1 gallon Beta tank w/ filter on my desk at work. Every week I change about 1/2 - 3/4 of the water, but I've noticed lately there has been green & brown alge growing. Why is this happening, and is it harmful to the fish? I tried to wipe it off the plant, but it grows back in the same spots with in a week. Could it be because I keep his light on in the tank all day? :dunno:

It's not harmful, Mr. Betta might even nibble on it(but I wouldn't hold my breath, lol)
It's most likely from keeping the light on. Do you turn it off at night when you go home? You should, if you don't. And if you already do, try keeping it on only a few hours out of your work day :)
