I just adopted a huge pleco. The biggest I have ever seen. I have had pleco before, but small. It is between 10"-12". Can anyone help me identify what type he/she is and anything you know about them?

No way of telling from those pics, I'm afraid, We really need to see it side on, with its dorsal fin up, if at possible. A picture of the head, and the belly side, would also help a lot x

For it to be that large it is likely to be one of the species slapped with the label of "common pleco". It'll need a good sized tank as it will grow even larger. Honestly I don't think it should even be in the aquarium trade because of its large size and how often people buy them only to end up with a foot long fish in a 20gal tank.

I'd shoot for 100gal+ I've seen a 2ft pleco in a 300gal tank and it still looked too small.

I've always been told that all plecos can grow quite large depending on space and food source(s)... especially when wild.
