I used a Stanley blade to take the worst of it off then I used normal window cleaner and that seemed to do the trick for me

I've used vinegar to get rid of lime deposits on the inside of my tanks with pretty good success. It should work for you, too.

Soak paper towels in vinegar and stick them over the affected area, leave for as long as possible (overnight at least) then remove and wipe clean. You may have to repeat if there's heavy deposits.

I've used a mix of white vinegar and baking soda. Just kind of make a paste with it and scrub away.
