Shops are in it for money/profit, TFF is free to use with no advertising.

Server isn't free. Bandwidth isn't free. Our spot in the search engines aren't free. The software to run the forum isn't free. The administrating is volunteered by us mods, but I think that it isn't quite fair to say it is free. Right now, all this happens primarily thanks to William, the rest of the mods, and all the great members we have.

We provide this service free to people who agree to our terms. I don't think that it is too much to ask to respect the rules we ask you to follow.

I didn't want to post in this topic or about this subject at all. However, I believe it will bring those who do not understand yet to understand.

A few nights ago, some members were promoting a forum that is NOT TFF in the chatroom. Some members who joined the forum were made Administrators/Moderators. Because these members promoted the forum that is NOT TFF in the TFF chatroom they have had some privileges taken away from them on the TFF forum. This is to stop them from promoting the forum that is NOT TFF on the TFF forums.

Hacking
I am the person who has supposed to have "hacked" the account on the forum that is NOT TFF.

Definition: Hacker: Someone who accesses a computer system by circumventing its security system.

I can assure you there was no circumventing of any systems. What actually happened was this: An administrator of the forum that is NOT TFF give me the password of a moderator on the forum that is NOT TFF. Obviously enabling me to gain access to that account.

That is NOT hacking.

That is actually breach of confidentiality on the forum that is NOT TFF.


None of this has anything to do with TFF. The only thing that concerns TFF is those member of the forum that is NOT TFF promoting the forum that is NOT TFF on the TFF forum.

I hope this makes everyone very clear of the situation.

No, there was no attempted hacking at all. As I said.. "None of this has anything to do with TFF. The only thing that concerns TFF is those member of the forum that is NOT TFF promoting the forum that is NOT TFF on the TFF forum."

I dont get it, are you saying the people on the non TFF forum, such as yourself are promoting the non TFF forum on TFF, but you are also hacking people who register on the non TFF forum?

FYI, I am not a member on the forum that is NOT TFF. I am not promoting anything. I am not hacking anything. There has been no hacking. There will be no hacking.

That obviously isn't related to this situation then. Take your individual case up with an administrator of TFF.

I'm afraid your post did not really clear anything up, I blamed it on English being my second language, but it seems I'm not alone. If there was no hacking then how would a non TFF member promote another site here on TFF? I think it is odd that someone who admits to having been part of some shady behavior is still here, yet the people who claim that their account was used by someone else to do shady stuff are not! I'm only writing this because I really am concerned that this could happen to anyone (what if someone uses my account next?), not to do any "flaming"!

Ah ok, i think i get it, so your not a member of this forum that is not TFF, your not hacking anything or going to hack anything, but you are sending material to promote the non TFF forum via the TFF forum, but plain English is not your first language so you are having difficulty making people understand that there is a non TFF forum where people who dont like TFF can post. ?

Please dont hack me, i dont want to be a member of the non TFF forum, as i like the TFF forum.

That is exactly the reason they have removed my PM's... because someone has set up an account with the same username that i have on here and used my information... I was contacted via PM about the site but never acted on it... Fair enough, i never reported it, but it's nearly a year since i signed up and never gave it a thought to report it. Maybe i should be on death row seeing as i am such a bad person?

Ok, look. Tizer isn't doing himself any favours by stirring but I kind of understand why he's doing it. It's JUST the internet. Yeah, sure I'd be annoyed if my account were banned too, but it's something that should be taken up with the mods rather than going through a game of chinese whispers on here. I believe that minnnt should have his pm back, if only so he can discuss this issue with the mods away from the eyes of new members who might be scared away by topics like this. Even though I found this topic more entertaining than most episodes of Jeremy Kyle, I think it needs to be taken down to shield the new members. There's no point in getting your knickers in a twist about losing members to other forums when topics like this drive them away.
