Signature Rules

Due to the excessive space taken up by signatures some limitations have been enacted.

Pictures are to be no larger than 300px tall by 600px wide. Pictures are to be limited to 100k. Type is to be no larger than a type size of 4, as dictated by the forum software. There are to be no more than 5 lines of type, with 5 url’s. .

There is a section in Your Profile, My Aquariums & Fish, which can be utilized for tanks, stocking, and other information. There is no limit to the amount of information that can be placed in this section.

Large pictures may be resized using the free software available at http://www.irfanview.com/

If your signature exceeds these limitations please edit to remain within the rules. Failure to do so may result in a moderator edit.

In all cases the Moderating Team reserves the right to edit or remove signatures that violate forum rules.

Thank you for understanding!

The Moderating Team.

What This Means

Signatures are the area beneath a member’s posts that can be personalized to their individual taste. While we have no problem with individual expression, some limits must be set to keep the forum attractive and easy to navigate without excessive distraction. For those who do not desire to see signatures they can be disabled in the Forums section under My Settings in Your Profile.

This is an expansion on the previous rules, which allowed a picture of no larger than 300px tall by 400px wide, or 5 lines of text. We have expanded on the picture width, as well as allowed for the 5 lines of type along with the picture.

Many members are fond of the banners in their signatures, while usually attractive, have violated the previous rules. This expansion of the rules now allows for banner pictures in signatures.

Many of these things are now limited by the upgraded forum software. Some can be circumvented by adjusting your screen resolution. The Moderating Team realizes this, and does take this into account in reasonable cases. Some people like a higher screen resolution, some lower. In cases where there has been an obvious attempt to violate the rules you will be contacted by a member of the Moderating Team.

The My Aquariums & Fish section is a great place to expand on your tanks, stock, hardware, anything at all concerning what you are involved with. It’s one of the first places I, as well as other members look for information if you are having a problem & we need more info. This, as well as your location, can save what is possibly valuable time in resolving a problem.

The free software provided by Irfanview is a great product, I use it all the time, not just for this forum. I can personally vouch for the safety and ease of use of this product.

Generally the Moderating Team will contact a member who’s signature is outside of the rules, giving them a couple of days to edit it themselves. On occasion we note a sig that is either way beyond the signature rules, or violates other rules of the forum. In these cases there is often an immediate edit, please be aware of content as well as size.

If any member has any question about picture size, content, or anything involving their signature feel free to contact any member of the Moderating Team. We are here to help, and make your experience here more enjoyable.
