I wish it had come about under better circumstances, but my little sister finally understands my obsession, lol! She's living with my father in Ontario for the summer, and when she was visiting one of her friends she found out he'd bought two males and planned to fight them. She got really upset and she didn't want to watch (she told him they'd kill each other, but he didn't believe her- he thought they'd just nip. I told her exactly what to say to set him straight, so I hope she does). Fortunately there was no funeral, since the boys were either too weak from the care they'd been getting at the lfs or just plain not aggressive enough to fight, cause she said all they did was look at each other.

After her muttonhead friend's disappointment wore off, and she tried not to gloat too much, she looked at the boys closer and totally fell in love. She said they were the most gorgeous turquoise she'd ever seen, and she also implied that they were a lot prettier than mine had been (I let that slide because I know the pride of a new fishowner ) She begged him to let her have one and he said it was fine with him, so now she's wondering where she could find another. I told her the fish stores in their part of Ontario offer a much better selection than what we have out in the Maritimes, so she's really keen to hunt around and see what she can find. I'm so proud of her- betta rescuer and brand new betta obsessor all in one day!

Wow, quite the story. I am happy to hear that the Bettas are fine now.

Depending where in Ontario your Sis, there may be a local breeder where she would be able to get some stunning bettas from.

Also I am in Ottawa and all the pet stores here have quite the selection. One of the stores also now sells Crown Tails. I would get one but I just don't have the room.

My sis is in Peterborough; that's where I was born, actually, but after the divorce Mum brought us both out here to where she was born herself. Anyway, I think she's more interested in a pet, so she'd be more likely to hit the lfs rather than a breeder. I'll definitely link her to that site, though, and give her the chance to choose for herself.
