What is the differnence between an Oto and a Flying fox? They look similar. I am thinking if they are the same fish with two names.

Does either of them eat the red algea?

I think you are confused
otos are very small

where as flying foxes are large in comparrison

Edit
I doubt either of them will touch red algea
do a google for Rhodophyta that will give you some good suggestions of how to kill it.

Thanks for the answer.

I dont see any Oto's in our market, I have only seen them on pictures and there they looked similar. I see plenty of Flying Foxes on the other hand and a guy in one of the lfs told me they eat red algea while I read they don't.

I dont have much of it only on nice looking roots that were in the tank from the previous owner but I would like to get rid of it.

Their coloration is very similar but flying foxes are quite a bit bigger.
