no i havent gone completley nuts !! not yet
was just feeding jambo some shrimp and noticed hes now got teeth.OMG!! hes about the 7 inch mark but wont stand still so could be a bit bigger.
so was wondering if anyone could put a rough guide to his age on him, he was about 3 inches when i got him about 3 months ago i think it was .Buddie ( his partner in crime) was rehomed today and he/she was still only about 4-5 inches

An Oscar with teeth? Is it a purebreed?

Do you mean teeth like pseudocanines like Parachromis have?

never heard of that before.

Not sure. Doesn't look like teeth to me but hard to tell in that pic. Pseudocanines aren't located there so it's not that per my 1st question.

AFAIK, Oscar don't have any teeth, at least like a Parachomis motaguensis, P. dovii or Flowerhorn. (Stating these 3 as hoping you've had or seen them and know what I mean as they're more popular)

Oscar have teeth in their jaws and a pharyngeal set as well but it's more like sandpaper, not actual teeth, afaik.

I could be wrong and would love to know either way tho. smile.gif Like I said tho, that's one beautiful fish no matter what! Healthy, large and just stunning!

Not sure about the teeth but I would put him at just under a year old, give or take a few months.

hi thanks everyone,
i had to move Buddie as one thursday night they suddenly decided they hated eachother,Jambo ripped his gills, his fins, made a right mess of him,so i put him into a smaller tank on his own and fixed him up and found a guy that has been after oscars for a while, but couldnt find any local, im confident he has gone to a new home,
i tried to get a new tank so that i could keep him, but i kept being let down, and i really didnt want Buddie to have to stay in a small tank, hes now at home in a 5ft on his own smile.gif really pleased with that
