I have come to the heart breaking decision to find my crayfish "Gary" a new home. I have had to cut back to 2 tanks and as his costs the most to run (big filter etc) it makes the most sense that he should move on to pastures new. He would ideally need to live in a tank by himself or with a few select tank mates. He currently lives with a shoal of Bucktooth tetra with no problems probably due to their size, speed and attitude but he has literally cut platties in half before. He also had an unhealthy interest in my climbing perch when they were babies and didn't think twice about grabbing my 12" bichir by her tail so I think only fast, middle to top level fish are safe.

He currently lives in a 2 ft by 1 ft tank which seems to suit him ok but I think bigger would be better so preferably 3ft. He readily takes frozen white bait and bloodworm and nibbles java moss but will eat basically anything he finds. He is approx 2 years old so should have a good 3 years left in him yet.

He is a fantastic shade of blue with hints of pink and purple as well as the bright red flash on his claws. I know I am biased but I can honestly say he is the most stunning example I have ever seen, the photo really doesn't do him justice.

I know that these guys are not the easiest of critters to rehome so I am not asking any money for him, just the promise that you will care for him as I have.

He is a lovely chap, very entertaining to watch as well, he loves climbing up the air line and standing on top of the filter outlet!

If it makes it easier for someone to take him on I will sell the tank with him for £50 including everything needed for him to be happy. The tank is a Fluval Roma 90 with stand. It comes with a Fluval tronic heater, 105 external filter and all media, thick layer of silver sand (for burrowing purposes!), black jewel textured background siliconed in, large piece of bogwood, loads of java moss, cave that I built from pebbles and silicone, extra pebbles and a rena 50 airpump with line and stone. If you bring a cool bag you are welcome to take the remaining frozen fish I have for him as well as none of my remaining fish can eat them and he does love them. Oh yes, I also have a long set of aquarium tongs / snips that I use to feed him as he has got my finger before! The tank is in great condition as it is only about 6/7 months old. I will get some pictures up of it but photobucket seem to selfishly be doing site maintenance at the moment.

Oh yes the booktooth tetra he lives with are also available and I will give away with this set-up free as it would be nice for them to stay together. Seperately I am asking £15 for the shoal of 7.

This is a picture of the tank when I first set it up but you can see all the equipment clearer than you can now with Java moss everywhere etc

Any takers?

This isn't sporen's post code, but its close enough for the sake of routemaster (I've had a fish off her previously, Tring is tiny so this postcode will be within 1 mile.)

HP23 6AA.
