Hi just a quickie... I wandered if someone could ID the following fish for me please.

First is a Malawi (2 pics)=

Secondly is a Tanganikyan (spelling)=
[It's the black, white and blue stripey fish I need ID'ing]

And just out of pure interest... can someone confirm if the following Malawi is a juvenile Msobo not yet at full colour?

thanks in advance smile.gif

Unfortunatly I can't identify the Malawi. But the Tang is a Tretacephalus, also know as the five bar cichlid and the poor mans Frontosa. He'll max out at around 6 inches.

Support bacteria. They're the only culture some people have.

The first pic I'm pretty sure is a Labidochromis sp. "Perlmutt"

I agree with Knucklehead on the second pic, a Neolamprologus tretocephalus.

The last picture looks more like a maturing male pseudotropheus flavus than any "msobo" I could find.

thanks very much.

I'm going to find a new home for the five bar cichlid because I think it'll end up causing problems.

Can anyone sex the Perlmutt from those pics for me please?

thanks

...and by the way-

Is the flavus definately one? Reason i suspected it was a msobo juv was because of this article- http://www.african-cichlid.com/Msobo.htm

If you look at the bottom it shows a time line of colour changes.

help lol

I'm pretty sure it's a flavus and not a msobo, maybe Ferris can tell for sure.

As for the perlmutt, I suspect you have a female. The males are generally a creamy white with faint vertical markings, while the females' markings are dark. You could always vent her to be sure though.

Oh right well thanks again for that.

I'll have to wait till he/she grows a little to see what it is because to me it's still debatable. I'll try getting a better pic too!
