Support bacteria. They're the only culture some people have.

I tend to agree, but it really depends on the Malawis you want. Are you going with haps, peacocks, or mbuna?

True dat!! Haps can get tons bigger than the others and you'd need fewer #'s.

Interesting, i have a 125 gallon tank. I have seen from many pictures i dont overstock my tank as much as the others ive seen. I would say i have about 15 in there currently. There isnt a ton of aggression between them, i havent lost a fish to aggression in quite a while.

I think part of overstocking is to put as many different colors in as well as to diffuse aggression. I have a 125 gallon as well. I need to adjust my stocking b/c I feel I'm getting to much aggression. I only have about 18/19 in there, but I have too many males crazy.gif They've been fighting left and right for awhile. Circling and lip locking and darting at the other. They are only about 2.5" atm. One gets up to 3" and the other 5". Hate to see what it'd look like when they are fully grown. I'm going to move them to a 75 gallon anyway. I'll thin out quite a bit, keep 4 of each species and sell the rest. I'll keep my crabro. And then add some different species for color.

What kind of males would you be looking to get rid of?
