I dont think they that poisonus to be honest all ive heard is that if one stings you its like getting your thumb hit by a hammer. As for release of toxins im unsure about that i took a sample of my water this morning when i went to buy the new one and they said thats the best water they have had this week.So i dont think he did release anything in my tank anyway.

Oh no, not fun at all sad1.gif sorry to here about your other one.

If the dottyback is territorial and wreaking some havoc in your tank, why not take him back to the lfs?

This morning i woke to him being stuck too the filter ive read somewhere they take a number of weeks to settle in is this true?

Just wanted to add almost all healthy animals will be able to swim away from filters/intakes, so that's a good indication that it wasn't well to begin with.

The dottyback is fine with all the other fish but does not like bigger fish than him, but saying that the regal tang ive got gets on fine with him and he is bigger. So perhaps he just does not like new freinds been added.

I was just thinking that if you did, maybe you could put him in there to add a tankmate. Leave him in there for a few weeks and then put him back in the tank???

Don't know if that would even work....just an idea smile.gif

I see your point never mind ive been told today that instead of a fox face that a sea hare will do a better job to get rid of the green hair algae. So ive ordered one of them hopefully it works.

Just be careful b/c when disturbed, a sea hare can release ink stuff that can be very bad for a fish tank. I wonder if anyone can confirm this? or have had it happen?

Just to say had the sea hare two days ago and he's doing a great job and eats loads of green alge. But its a very very ugly looking thing and he seems to sleep most of the day until afternoon the starts his eating. The Grammer hasn't bothered with him as he blends very very well into the live rock so hopefully ive got it sussed.

Just to say had the sea hare ten days now and for the first 8 days he's done great but the last couple of days he's just been eating from the back of the glass and not from the live rock.Anyway tonight he seems to of oepened a big hole up on his back and was struggling to hold on to the tank, so ive took him out and put him in a container for the night as im not sure if he's been attacked or just not well. But from what ive read on them when they do this most of them die.So thats why ive took him out, because im told if he dies in the tank they squirt off an ink which kills everything in your tank.So i dont wont to risk it . I will update you 2moro to how he is hopefully he makes it and it just a false alarm. But im not putting himback in until that hole on his back is shut.
