My shrimp do a great job of cleaning up algae from plants/rocks/ornaments but they don't do much on the glass.

What would be a good partner - mainly for the glass cleaning duties? I was thinking about a Bristlenose plec..?

How about Apple snails, do they clean up much?

a sponge....... w00t.gif

only slightly joking there, realistically no fish or combination of fish will do all your maintenance for you, a quick wipe with a sponge once a week when you do maintenance will keep the glass relativley clean and algae free.

what size is the tank and what other fish do you have in it?

I have amano/ghost shrimp and some apple snails....seem to do the job really well at keeping algae down..My snails dont seem to be eating any of my plants so far, just the dead bits.

I do clean the front and sides of the tank by hand by access to the back is difficult - and I'm lazy rolleyes.gif

tank - 60x30x30cm
tank mates - 3 shrimp, 5 zebra danios, 3 neon tetra (numbers down due to white spot sad.gif )

Either Otos or a Bristlenose will do!

Apples work well; So do most other snails, but they prefer to go for fish food more than algae if they can help it.

Fish-wise, otos, or the smaller plecs would be good.

In my opinion Otto's aren't great at glass cleaning duties (other opinions may differ?) - and they need loads of plants and constant supply of algae.
And with Applesnails, just remember that if the calcium concentration in the water isn't high enough, they aren't able to build a strong shell and become susceptible to shell damage.

There is just little (if anything to my knowledge) that surpasses the bristlenose.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll be on the look out for a Bristlenose.
