I don't think he will ever be back to his former glory, but you can see he is a rosetail. His colouring is so unusual - pale metallic gold with washes of black and white marbling.

These photo's don't do justice and I have NEVER seen a betta like him, marbled pale gold but true metallic and needs to be bred quite honestly, is it possible with the tail you see in these pics and is anyone prepared to have a go at breeding him with a gold or white or marble girl?

Nice! i got a female off Netty on tuesday, and she said looking at my pics she thinks its rosetail too.

I have edited this post as I'm of the mindset this fooshie needs breeding and I can't do it myself

i could give it a go? i could either use pearl, my white-gold who has just successfully spawned with shimmer, she's a pk, so could be good to shorten the tail length to give extra strength for the excessive branching? or there is hawn, who i'm still not sure is male or female, but is a pale metalic gold and if female is FT. (am going to condition hawn in a breeding trap in a tank with shimmer, to see what the result is once the babies are free swimming)

would it be a case of breed, send him back and then divide the babies between us once they are 3-4 months old?

I hadn't really thought that far ahead I just see his colouring/finnage each day and think what an awful waste not to give this one a try.
If you breed him and do all the hard work you can sell the babies and keep the money yourself, just would want a couple of girls back for my tank and maybe a boy if you keep Jerico, which I don't mind as you may want to spawn him again if he's successful.
It's the colouring, it's so unusual and never see it anywhere.

Ibble would be very good at spawning him, she's had succesful spawnings and just had another succesful one and all her bettas are very well cared for and loved.

looks like hawn is actually a girl too. put her within sight of smokey, and within minutes he started building a massive bubblenest! am leaving them together and gonna try and condition her up, just to make sure. but it looks promising. she is an amazing colour. her body is silver/gold and her fins are gold with a thin silver butterfly edge. its really difficult to get a decent pic which shows her colours, as using the flash she often comes out looking copperish.

Oh there ya are thought I'd lost ya, she is bloody gorgeous. Well if you want to have a go with Jerico and see how you go I just want to see more of him available to people because he is so pretty as is Hawn, they seem like a perfect match in many ways. Just let me know, I'm in no rush or anything, I just have visions of one day Jerico dying and never being to find another one of him and that would be awful. I see so many of the other unusual colours in abundance like melano, orchid, dragon, yellow, orange, they are so more available now, but no golds, just don't see them. He looks like he's been dipped in mica!

yeah thats fine by me i would love to have a go at spawning him, but would feel kinda guilty keeping him afterwards, so would have returned him to you anyway, (plus some of the fry once old enough) so if you send to me first, i could send him on to gill after he had recovered from spawning, or vice versa. or back to you to send on to him/next breeder. whichever you preferred. will pm you with my details and we can try and sort something out

OK smashing hun thanks, we can see if he's any good at breeding then if he is successful you can send him onto Gill before he comes home to mama lol, saves him a journey if we do it that way
