Has anyone seen or used a sand fountain in there fish tanks? I found one online last night and am thinking about picking it up. Only concern is that the cichlids might start to mess around with the sand.

I'm a little dissapointed - i thought it would be more dramatic More dramatic? Well I guess if it was larger it might be more dramatic, once again i havent seen it yet. I saw one in action last night at a friends house and was wondering if the cichlids would just steal the sand.... Ive seen them on ebay for 20-40 dollars. I think its quite Unique i havent quite seen anything like it. Ive seen underwater Rivers as well. Let me see what i can do about finding a link for that if anyone is interested. |

definitely unique! Where does it pull the sand from? It comes with sand... On the bottom there is like a metal grading that is spaced out enough for the sand to drop into it and then back up and out wherever it pours from. And yes ferris thats the underwater river, but they are bubble rivers trapped under acrylic. |

I prefer the sand fountain out of the 2 - i'm sure Mbuna will interfere with the sand but you can probably just replace it/top it up.
If you fancy it - go for it |

I prefer the sand fountain as well. The river is eh so so. A nice idea but might be too artificial looking for my taste. Well we'll see what happends if and when i pick that sand fountain up, maybe i could cover it somehow to avoid the fish messing with it otherwise i might just have to top it off and so forth. Do you know of any other unique gadgets for the fish tank? That you would consider more "dramatic"? |
