my blue rams laid eggs today for the first time and i'm really excited.i've had plenty of fry from livebearers but this is my first egglayer.is their anything i need to do to make sure they survive?i've read that they are very good parents through the whole thing but i just wanted to see if their's anything i need to do.

start hatching brineshrimp eggs so you have something to feed the fry when they hatch in a few days time. You can also get vinegar eels and microworms but brineshrimp nauplii (baby shrimp) are better.

it might work but you have to get the food down to the bottom where the babies will be. Livebearer fry hang out near the surface and will happily take floating foods. Ram fry live on ther bottom and are less likely to take dry food. They might so give it a try.
If you can get them onto newly hatched brineshrimp and micoworms they will grow faster. |

Dont be disappointed if they dont hatch and get eaten. Rams will usually take half a dozen attempts before they are successful. If the eggs are fertile they will turn a mustard yellow colour if not they will stay white. You may like to dose the tank with some anti bacterial meds to stop the eggs going mouldy. |

mix you first bit food with some water to make it liquidy then use a pipette and squirt it to the bottom of the tank where the babies are!
