sorry for posting again, got no answers as yet and convinced that these two are laying more eggs as i speak , dont know if i should cull the eggs please can someone tell me if they think that this is normal or a deformity thanks ... becks.
Hi , Was just wondering if anyone can tell me if this is normal or not?? I have a pair of Angels which have sucessfully spawned, I am still not sure which one is M/F but am not too concerned . Anyway I have noticed that gradually one of them in the first picture has a strange shaped top fin it kindo of arc's??? I would not want to let them carry on and breed if this is some kind of deformity, so have been searching others pic's to see if this is normal. To give you an idea on size he/ she is about 7 inches from top to bottom and the other one with normal fin is about and inch and a half smaller. The babies all seem fine, cant get a pic as they are too small Any help as always much appreciated. Becks. 1. wirh strange fin ![]() 2. Normal smaller one ![]() |

I have two large angel fish and one of them has a slightly curved dorsal fin, don't think it is anything to worry about!!
I'm sure someone else will reply soon who will be able to tell you more |

It's not just the top fin, it's the angle of the bottom fin, as well as the general body shape. Often that little curl of the top fin is environmental, known as clipping. The bottom fin is not, nor is the body shape.
I would not breed it due to that, but I'm very picky that way. You may get a spawn that is fine, to be followed by a spawn with problems, you may have problems from the start, you may have no problems in any spawns. What will happen with the offspring, and successive generations is anyone's guess, I don't take these sort of chances, and don't breed that way. |

Hi thanks for the replies,
The bottom fin looks abnormal on the photo, however in real life seems exactly as it should be .. I dont know why you are saying his/her body is an odd shape? can you explain in more detail please, again I dont know if it is the photo, apart from the curve in the dorsal fin he is really quite a nice fish and seems healthy in every other way... Thanks Becks. |
