Hi
Bubbles still sick ive been dosein waterlife myaxin for finrot for over a week now and he still stuck in his corner not moveing he eats a little. I suspect its finrot but im unsure as he slightly tips to one side now. only time he does move is when he darts around the tank bumping into everything. water stats are perfect and I keep makeing sure he has fresh water! his fins go pale like two toned grey center with color around the edges. waterlife said you can use myaxin useing the brush method and painting his fins would that just stress him out more? Hears a pic! ![]() Carl This post has been edited by aibo210: May 29 2008, 10:07 PM |

looks like you have cured the finrot, ther eis no black areas in the pic that i can see of which is classic finrot, i would give it a 1 day break and then a large water change then go onto anti internal bacterial meds interpet do a good one, ive recently had a mass of similar descriptions from members and anti bacterial has always worked, you may well see a difference in a few days after treatment starts, keep to live foods as the swimming motion of it will make him exercise and keep his strength up. good luck......also what temp is his water?

His water is about 26c at the moment. I have a bottle of protozin and sterazin which ones best for him? Ill give him a big water change again tommrow do you think some API salt be good and how much? the tanks 25 litre ? This post has been edited by aibo210: May 29 2008, 11:01 PM |

dont use either of them, protozin can not be used with in 4 days of myxazin as it causes a lethal chemical reaction, and also salt added with myxazin is not a good idea either, its the anti internal bacterial that you need as this should sort it for you, im a little crap with remebering my meds and what they are for, if they in front of me im ok

Interpet does a fairly good one and it is clearly labled Internal Bac. I used this when i had that bad case of Dropsy all them months ago it really did the trick.
I think its Waterlifes Octozin that covers internal Bac, it comes in tablets but only 90% sure on that, it will say on the back of the bottle |

Well we recently had a little guy lying at the bottom drained of colour and not eating. It's a week now since starting the treatment and he's up and gobbling up his food.....so keep treating him and fingers crossed

he's talking crap, interpet anti bacterial works wonders. theres been people who have had a betta like this for up to a week before starting meds and they pull through, this is the usual advice given by people who dont know what else to say, go for the treatment.

dont get too excited yet. something is wrong. i got my hopes up every time my betta's wiggled at me after they go in a fight and obviously had bacterial infections (i was completely oblivious to the infection cuz of the behavior and my attitude).
assume the worst and treat with antibiotics. if the filter current is strong, you may have just helped your betta out a lot by turning it off... but what you described isn't a current based issue. btw. i've only used clove oil for one betta that i was sure had dropsy after 10 days. i treated and treated and treated and the poor guy was so miserable he was floating around the tank in every direction. only at the point that you have TRULY tried everything and it is obvious your betta is in pain should you consider the clove oil method. (make sure you use TONSSSSSSSSSS after the initial "knockout dose". dont want to risk it) edit: i really dont want this post to come of negatively and that i support putting down a fish. but sometimes you have to be real and making sure you do it right is essential. also, this betta does not sound like he is at that point. so i do not recommend anything involving clove oil. Carl Same problem i had at first when new to bettas, my filter was causing a strong surface movement and the betta was stressed, i replaced with a sponge filter and he is still fine now and hes months since then. |

I think we have a similar problem, although the betta has not got any visible problems. Midas, Nettys Feathertail, has been a right grumpy git. He sits at the back of his tank and wont come out for anything. His tank is approx 20L and has one of those overhead trickle filters. I have made up a gadget which calms down the water entering the tank but there is still movement on the surface. We have now removed him from there to see if perks up. Flippin finnicky little things sometimes |
