Apologies if this is the wrong section to post this!

Anyways, we have a juwel vision 180, and we got some neon tetra's, the thing is that the tetra's keep dying as they are going into the filter sad.gif

Has anyone else had this problem?

It's such a shame that the juwel filters can't accommodate small fish very well sad.gif((

Try a little bit of netting or mesh over the filter grates to stop them going in.

we tried that, but they still find some kind of way of getting in there!
also, it reduces the efficiency of the filter, but i guess it's better than nothing....
such a shame though... sad.gif

I took the filter out of my rio, but if I remember correctly, where the outflow tube comes out of the main box, there is a gap in the casing around the tube which is big enough for small fish to get through. If yours has this gap, you just need to plug it up with filter wool or something similar. It shouldn't affect the flow.

I had the same problem, 8 harlequins and 8 guppies got in there, few of them were alive about 2 weeks later biggrin.gif

I get a few fry, but yours must have bigger gaps because there is no way anything neon sized could get in mine.

I found this with my bumblebee gobies. I made a net 'hat' to go over the top of the filter and to cover the outlet area...I found that was where the fish were getting in rather than the 'grilled' areas biggrin.gif As the filter sponges became clogged as the time went on between filter sponge cleans, the water flow reduced and the fish were able to swim up the outlet pipe area quite easily (I saw one do it before I cleaned the filter out).
