I put his tank next to Cam's and he has perked up like u wouldn't believe. he is going to live with my sister but he will be with other fish -and i think he's going to love it. I am not convinced these fish like to be alone to be honest. I know they are all different and it's trial and error but he is thriving having the company of Cam right now. Not flaring just playful.

i reckon it depends on the personality of the fish, i have 2 that i keep in with others( seperate tanks) and 1 that is on his own as he dosent get on with anyone at all, he is just as much a wonderful fish as the others tho, and is really playfull,as he is at the side of the bed, he hangs about on my side of the tank( make sense?) when i go to bed, and i ticlkle the tank ( dont ask me why i do that i just do), he is an amazing fish been with me for about 6 months, never had an issue with him, apart from the fact that he hates clown loaches, way too nosey and inquisitive for him,but as i say the other are in with loaches, platys, etc etc and get on great

But I do think on this forum we are all too quick to say they prefer to be alone and it's rare they like to have tank mates, I would say in my own experience it's more of a 50/50 thing. and lmao at the anti-clown loach thing lolll |

Hi, mine is with some small Cory and most of the time they all ignor each other. Many times though if I creep in before lights on he is asleep actually draped over one of them! Or maybe it's the Cory using him as a duvet
One other thing, as you can see in my sig. my two tanks are alongside each other. When first set up he went crazy, flaring and darting up and down at the side of the tank that faced the other tank. If you looked through his tank from the other side it looks like the fish from the other tank are actually in his tank. Anyways, he was getting pretty upset. I now have blanked it off and he has settled down a treat. Don't reckon he'd like that much company |

When I used to have bettas, I had different degrees of success when putting one in the community tank. The worst case scenario was I had one that would just hide all day and had staked out one of the caves as his own. Eventually I removed him as I felt he wasn't happy. Best case scenario was I had this one betta that just loved to play all day long and didn't pay any mind to the other fish in the tank. He just wanted to play and play, especially in the bubbles from the bubble stone. He was a real joy to watch. Even when I had them in their own tanks, they all seemed to have behave differently. So I'm sure they all just have their own personalities. Unfortunately I lost all 7 of my bettas when I did a water change one night. I 'know' I did nothing wrong as I had done it countless time before. Either way, they were all dead in the morning and I haven't gotten any new ones since. I would love to get one for my community tank, but I have several females in there and I've read that it's not a good idea to put them in with females in a community tank because they'll attack the other fish should they wish to mate. Not sure if this is true, but I don't want to take a chance.
