Betta With A Bump On His Side, what is it and how do I treat it-pic |

while cleaning out his tank yesterday I noticed a small bump on Tweeks side, does not look like pineconeing, not red or inflamed just a small bump on his side. Like the bump is pushing up his scales. Should I be real worried? it does not seem to bother him at all, and he is quite happy and busy
and YES I know his tail is chewed...it is now healing but he did that to himself when he was stressed from being in a divided tank where he could see other bettas and my noisy son the next room over....hence the moving all the tanks to the basement and Tweek getting his own space. the tank is already being melafixed and salted, he is in a divided-but not see threw- cycled 6 gallon, on the other half is my other male betta. Should the betta with the bump be in his own tank? what else can I treat him with so the bump goes down?

It's hard to tell what that lump is on a wide angle shot. Any change of a close-up? If could be a large exturnal parasite that is contagious, a cancerous lump or something else....Can't realy tell...

ok, off to take a closer pic, brb.
In addition to taking a new pick I put the betta in a quarentine 2 gallon with a heater, added the salt and melafix I had before. I also did a 100% water change on the divided tank he was shareing with my other male betta. This is the best close up I could get, I noticed then when trying to get a better pick that the bump bleed a tiny tiny bit when I moved him over, then stoped.

Lumps that suddenly appear can be bacterial.
Does the lump look like its filled with fluid or look hard. |

It could be a tumour then.
All you can do is try a bacterial med and hope for the best. |

alright I have got some bacterial meds at home, will give those a round or two and see what it does for him. thanks for the help.
if it is a tumor, can fish live with them long term? as long as it is not impairing his swimming, eating and general well being. |

Yes they can live a while with tumours.
If he goes down hill fast you will know when to end the fish suffering. Good luck. |
