basically i bought a cichlid that has an emerald green shiny body (about where the orange belly is on a female convict) the rest of the body is sand/light brown colour, except a black spot on the dorsal fin surrounded by metallic purple, it also has the pale blue chin of a sajica.
it tried to breed with my sajica today, and became totally green with convict stripes!!! its v. strange!!! ok so here are the pics:- (a little blurry sorry, he kept swimming all over)

Archocentrus septemfasciatus would be my guess (though I'm not sure if thats the valid scientific name anymore).

If i remeber right, 7 stripes are very very closely related to Convicts.

Wow, lucky you, those are not terribly common at all! And all cryptoheros will readily interbreed (hey they are related to convicts after all!)
