Hi
Have had my pair of blue Rams for the last 12 months or so in a 70G community tank. Have recently bought a 20G tank & I would like to move these two with a view to hopefully breeding them. They will be the only occupiers of the new tank (when it's ready). I understand that they are not too difficult to breed, but I want to make sure that their new home is as nice as possible for them. Normally I keep live plants heavily planted with additional CO2, with a Red Sea base. I don't propose to do this with my new tank, white sand base, few plants (might even go for fakes Any tips would be greatfully received as this will be my first foray into breeding & I would like to get it right. Thanks |

This is the best advice I've found on breeding blue Rams. I've successfully raised about 50 Blue Rams and have a small group of 5-day old fry that I'm raising in a 5 1/2 gallon tank right now.

Oh yeah, one more thing, for hatching the baby brine shrimp, get the San Francisco Bay Brand Hatchery Kit. This is the one you add a 2 liter soda bottle to. I would avoid the Shrimpery Kit. Although smaller I had really bad results with the Shrimpery Kit, the Hatchery Kit is MUCH better.
For the Hatchery kit, I fill it with 2 liters of water, 2 tablespoons of sea salt from the grocery store, and 1/8 teaspoon of brine shrimp eggs. Works like a charm. I filter out the napulli with a coffee filter and then use an eyedropper to feed the fry with. This post has been edited by smoothvirus: May 7 2008, 03:27 PM |
