I find that one of the more amusing fish names is actually that of the Plecostomus, considering the latin meaning of the name. The word "pleco" is latin for "plated," and "stomus" actually means "stomach!" Put it all together, and you may just have a Plated stomach swimming around in your aquarium! Or, if you prefer the shorter nick-name, Pleco, you simply own a "Plated" (just call it a plate for short!). Truly, the meanings behind latin names can often be rather amusing, as can their pronunciation--take the Anablep, for example--now that's a fun word to say!
