As some of you may know, at the end of summer I'm moving, and I've made the hard decision to rehome my fish and sell my tanks. I'm sure I'll set up at least one tank once I get settled into my new home, but I think it's for the best to start anew.

Here's a link if anyone can accomodate and want some beautiful free fish or if you know of anyone who wants them.
http://www.fishforums.net/content/African-...owtopic-240410/

For those that would like to start in the exciting world of mbuna, I'd be happy to sell my 75 gal (complete with filters, lights, stand, and python cleaning system, rocks and sand too if you want) as long as you take the fish with it. I only have 16 fish in there, so there is room for more.

Awww, NO!!!!!! Atleast you'll have some fish at your new place. Where are you moving too? I would keep the Mbuna Personally, or are you going to settle with livebearers? Are you going to remain on the forum?

Sorry to hear this Dawn - don't be a stranger on the forum.

Is is the practical problems of moving the tanks and fish that's putting you off?

Thanks everyone for the commiseration, it's a tough decision to make, but I think it's for the best.

I'll still be around on the forum. good.gif When I set up in the new house I'll definately be sticking with mbuna, I just find "standard" community fish so boring in comparison. I'm moving to Cheyenne, WY.

Yeah, that's the problem. I'm currently single, so not only do I have to deal with all the packing/unpacking by myself, I'll be a first time home buyer with all the fun that goes there. Not only that, but I have two cats, so I have to deal with them in a car for 9 hours. crazy.gif So even if it weren't all that going on, I'm hiring a moving company to move my stuff with no guarantee they'll show up at the new house the same time I do, and no guarantee the tanks won't break. It's just too much stress for me, and I'd be gutted if I ended up with dead fish or a broken tank. I think it will just be easier for me and the fish if I rehome them here and start over there once I'm all settled in, besides sales tax is cheaper there so I'll save some money. wahey.gif

Fair enough - 9 hours is a long old journey. Living in the UK, if i drove in one direction for 9 hours - i'd be in the sea! w00t.gif
Good luck with the move and i'm sure once you're settled you'll be setting up tanks again. good.gif

laugh.gif laugh.gif Nine hours for me is only 2 states away, it'd take at least another 14 hours or so to hit ocean. I have no idea how people kept from going insane before having cars. I couldn't imagine having to travel for months on end. crazy.gif Of course if that was the case I could just set my tanks up in the covered wagon and do water changes on the fly. rofl.gif

I'll definately have at least one tank, I can't imagine not having fish around, they're just too interesting.

Since no one on here was close enough to pick up any of the fish (and I really didn't want to post them), I put an add in local paper. Much to my surprise, the first two (of about 15 calls now crazy.gif ) that came to look at them, decided they wanted the fish with the tanks. So, I managed to sell 2 tanks and rehome all the fish in one day. shout.gif Now I'm looking so forward to breaking down the tanks and getting the fish ready for transport. Oh joy. rolleyes.gif

I was in luck that the guy taking the 75 mbuna tank has been keeping cichlids for a little over a year so I know they'll go to a good home.

I have to admit, I'm really going to miss my fish and it will be hard to wait until I move to set up new tanks. -Dawn

I may have to go a little smaller than the 300, depends on what house I buy as I really don't want to have to do much to the exisiting support structure, but I'll definately be getting at least a 6-ft. good.gif I'm going to be so depressed with the fish gone, at least I know they're going to a good home.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it, I've already got the tank pretty much planned. Just need to work out some details, like exact size, finding a company willing to deliver and set it up, and oh yeah, a house to put it in. rofl.gif
Those are just the minor details, the important thing is I think I might know which fish I want to put in it. hehe.gif

Sure, I'm either going to go with a p.crabro species tank, or p.crabro & m.greshakei. I'd like to do an aggressive tank this time, and those are my two favorites, I think they'll look great in a 6-ft. yes.gif
