my female betta seems to be fatter than she should be. A small white lump is coming out of her bum, is this an egg?

She's definately ill becasue she either hangs below the surface or sits at the bottom, her fins aren't spread out and are mostly clamped together wacko.gif

anyone got any ideas?

the white thing is her egg spot...its normal, the extra fatness could be plumping up with eggs, but more likely constapation from not eating a varied diet. try feeding her a cooked cooled deshelled pea and go post in the emergency section for more advice.

if she is eggy she should have vertical stripes. Sounds bunged up, change her water, and try to get her to eat a cooked shelled pea

I've already changed the water, its perfectly clean biggrin.gif I think it could be the diet wacko.gif i'll buy some betta pellets tomorrow and try the peas.

water parameters seem ok, ive posted previous bulletins on this. all 7s, but i need new test kit things for the nitrate. The fish in my other tanks are fine though. Inhabitants - just her and a male betta, seperated with a divider. biggrin.gif

the male seems better than he looked the other day, but I'm still worried about the female, shes lying on the bottom a lot sad.gif

thanks for your help biggrin.gif
