Firstly I had 6 neons and unfortunatly all but one died. They wer the black neond. I was wondering if I bought other shoaling fish the remaining neon might shoal with them or will it just stick by itself?

Secondly I have a tetra filter that comes with easy crystal filter packs. These say that I have to replace them once a month. But don't they contain the bacteria the tank needs so how is this going to work? The filter also has a thin and I mean thin sponge and some filter balls that you just clean.

I used to have 4 black phantom tetras and boought 6 neons. All but 1 neon died, and he was fine for ages, he just used to cruise around by himself sometimes, but mostly hung around with the phantoms

the tetra will only shoal with it's own kind although there are exceptions but that is usually the fish having to shaol for protection rather than it wanting to shoal.

The crystal pad will remove fine particles making your tank water crystal clear. the filter balls will contain the most bateria, replave half ever 3 month, the sponge removes large particles.
