My buddy just got a black/white verticle stripped catfish & i cant figure out what it is. The nose is slightly rounded as he describbed it. I believe I have seen these in a few pet stores before but have not paid much attention to them. I am trying to figure out diet, size, & compatibility. i know there is not a picture, but a rough speculation on the name would be great.

Could it be a 'PLatydoras costatus' (Humbug/ Striped-Talking Catfish)?? THANK YOU, you nailed that one on the nose. Anyone know anything that I should make my friend of aware of. He has it in a 20 Gallon now & has offered it to me if it grows to much, but w/ three pictus cats, syno eupt, and a few small plecs on the way I am at max capacity I think. Thanks for the help |

Hi, I had one for about ten years> they are quite nocturnal and they can make croak noises at night!
Size; up to 8in. Diet; Catfish pellets, Algae wafers, veg matter, snails, insect larvae.. >Females get larger than Male. +They Like caves, rocks and hidey-holes. Will probably become slightly territorial, but not too aggressive. Hope he thrives, wherever he is homed... This post has been edited by rossyt99: Apr 1 2008, 06:46 PM |
