though yes, BP's do look similar to goldfish. They are indeed not alike.
Some Bp's can be hyper-aggresive. My old 10inch Bp would murder most things in with him. Not to mention draw blood from your hand. I assume this is more the Midas range of BP. Very nice at any rate. |

Send him my way, he is gorgeous!! BTW can I see his wife?
I used to have two females, they were orginally green and they faded to yellow, sadly when we moved we couldn't set up the tank straight away so they went to the LFS and got snapped up as soon as I walked through the door, lol!! My friend has some and they are various shades of red and pink! Emma x This post has been edited by guineapigqueen: Jun 3 2008, 10:20 PM |

They were a very dull green, no something I said would have been dyed, but I never knew about dyeing then. BTW I know the bright pink one my friends is dyed, its not a natural colour, its practically neon. Emma x |

Sounds like they were to me. The fact that the color faded is a pretty good sign, since dyed fish usually lose the artificial color over time. I was probably dull to start with because it had already faded to some extent.

If they were dark brown/green with striped and as they grew they bacame yellow in patches slowly spreading all over then they were probably not dyed and this was the tansition between juvie and adult colours. If they were a solid light green and slowly became less green and more yellow then they would have been dyed.
This is what a BP looks like as it changes from juvie to adult colours.

When I saw they they were a horribly mucky green colour and I purchsed them a few weeks later as they were ordered in the shop by mistake and they were all patchy like the one your have added.
Thanks for that I never knew they changed colour from juvi to adult. When they left us they we all yellow, no mark of any colour on them. Emma x |
