It is possibly due to the trials and tribulations they have been put through over the last few days.

Hets practice superfetation which means that they have a number of broods at different stages of gestation at the same time so you should get a few fry every few days. Feeding them will be a problem as they are so small. You can try crushed flake or liquifry 1 but they will do best with Artemia nauplii (newly hatched brine shrimp).

If you are feeding liquifry etc then you should be very careful not to pollute the tank especially as they are in a one litre aquarium.

Regards,

Duncan.

Thanks duncan,

I asked Derek and he said the same thing.
I will leave them alone for a few days and just add some new hatched daphnia from my outdoor culture and some larger ones for the M/F

Some New Pix.

I tried them in a large 2 gallon tank, and they hated it. - Just hid in the Java Moss all Day.

Put them in a Tall Narrow tank i have - Eliptical Shape. And they are liking this alot more. The female is swimming around and looking down at the fish in the main tank below her. It Fits Perfectly in the rim of the tank ans get all the heat and light it needs. Plus it makes water changes really easy.

The Bumble Bee Snail is Laying eggs in there aswell ATM - Is it ok to leave these in there, as i believe they would be good source of food for any fry. and get infusoria from the snail

I Decided to add them to the 90G. And they are doing Great. They have staked out the Java Fern for themselves.
The Male swims around the tank exploring while the female stays close tot he Java Fern.

She has Dropped 2 Fry since going into the 90G, Both are doing fine and swimming around in the riccia.
Strangest thing today, looks like she was courting one of the Clown Killies. Her Fella was zooming around them trying to look all big and rebuff the Clown Killie. So Funny to watch.

Another Fry has been dropped.
Its amazing how they are born an exact copy of the adults in everyway.
The new guy/girl is staying close to his sibling that dropped last week.
They Like picking at settled food rather than taking food as it is in the water.
Female is getting bigger and more confident within the tank, that she is now out in the open water during the day and not staying to the confines of the vallis and moss.

They are doing great and still dropping fry.
The female looks huge ATM.

I have Noticed an odd behavior/interaction Between Hetty and one of my Clown Killie Fish Males.
The Clown will chase the Tiny male away and then they will spiral up and down very close to each other. Very interesting to watch them do this as they look so different from each other.
Do you suppose the Clown is Trying to Court her.

Yeah they are Very Fun to Watch.
I really Like How they will stand up to larger fish.

I have seperated a few fry to keep them on there own away from the main family group.
Just wanna see how they develop.
