Hi all

I'm thinking of adding a couple of new fish to my tank (see details below) and I'm wondering 1. whether any new additions would make me overstocked, and 2. what fish may be compatible with my current set up.

TANK
Juwel Rio 240L (48"x18"x12")
Sand substrate
Eheim Pro II external filter
Rock outcrop with cave
Medium Planted
Synthetic large bogwood

FISH
2x Angels, 4x Keyholes, 1x Blue Ram, 1x Bristlenose Pleco, 5x Rummynose Tetra, 3x Cardinal Tetra

My initial thought is to add to my tetra to help them shoal a bit better (as a few died in my recent house move), and I'd really like to get another blue ram. Should I leave my stock there - or would there be a possibility of another species in there?

Thanks for any advice!

well adding tetras does little to your bioload as most of the tetra species are so small, consiquently, their waste is small. It's unusual to keep Angels with tetras from what I hear (but maybe thats just neon's) as I believe they are natural predators. Anyways, if you wanted to add 4 or 5 more tetras, shouldn't be a huge deal

Neon tetras are prime food for Angels, but as far as I know and for as long as I've had them the tetra I've got are fine.

Could anybody give me ideas on anything else I could put in the tank?

I'd get a few more rams.
Maybe a few Bolivian ram.

How about a few different shoals of corys.
They'd make a nice addition to your "clean up crew".

I would personally look to build on your current species and if it was my tank i would be looking to add

7 x cardinals
3 x blue ram
6 x corydoras

Thanks for the advice. I think it sounds like the best option to me. What's the smallest, prettiest corydoras in people's opinions that I could get for the tank?
And as far as blue rams go, I'd be looking to get a nice mix together - perhaps one male and three females. Only thing is - we've always found it really difficult to sex our ram (despite pics and posts on this forum). He/She has both red markings on its body (belly) as well as a large front dorsal fin - is it just me, or does this make a he-she? smile.gif

Schwartz Corydoras grow to around 1.5"
Panda Cory's also generally stay quite small but can be hard to acclimatise to a new tank

there are a few others but it would depend on whats available near you
