arggghhhh! ive had just about enough of my red fin shark! hes taken to chasing my 7 neons around the tank and nipping their tail fins also i found on of my dalmations mollies dead on tuesday morning and it was fine when i "put them to bed" on monday night, i had to rehouse a silver shark(who was bigger than the reed fin!) as the red fin shark chased and nipped at him too, there doesnt seem to be any reason why he is doing this as he already has taken over half of the ship wreck in the tank and he comes out of there to chase the poor neons! we're thinking of selling him back to the fish shop unless anyone has any ideas on what to do?

How many gallons si the tank.
How many fish and which type. The red finned shark are aggressive, should research your fish before you buy them. |

I agree.
Bala sharks are a shoaling fish and need to be kept in groups, need tanks of 120 gallons. Red finned sharks and red tail sharks need 40 gallon tanks as they are territoral. |

Big fish in general-eat little fish if the opportunity arises-=-the red fin though not as bad as the red tail shark ,is aggressive and way to big to be with neons. |

thanks to everyone for your replies we currently have the red fin shark in a nursery box and are ringing the lfs to see if they will rehome it for us over the weekend, all the fish in the tank are noticably happier and more relaxed now that they shark is in "quarantine" even the frog who had hid away since day one is out and about all the time now
 does anyone know if there is a website which lists what fish are compatible with others so i dont make this mistake again, thanks againMelanie |

And, you can always ask on here about fish compatability, after all we're here to help.
My suggestion is usually to write down the fish you are interested in, research them either in our fish index or on google, then post your tank size, filtration, fish you already have, and what you would like to add.
