Hi,

I moved my powerheads around to eliminate a dead spot (with much success, its now very turbulent) that I noticed, the green xenia and pulsing xenia are doing great!

For 2 days now, the leather mushroom has been sulking, its retracted 24/7 and the only thing it does it release loads of silky type threads out of it. The coral was fine before I moved the circulation...

Any ideas what to try? good.gif

Sounds like it's shedding it's mucus layer thing (that's the technical term, of course!) to clean itself. In my coral book it says it can take anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks until it's finished and the polyp's come out again. My devil's finger has just started doing the same this weekend.

It's mad how different they look when they close up, isn't it?

Mine's half-open now and the closed half is shedding a lot of mucus so hopefully tomorrow night it'll be back to normal. In my book it said they shed the mucus crap regularly.. I hope not too regularly!!

Dude, if you take the mucus out of the tank and fry it up in a saucepan - you got yourself a delicacy!! Dunno.gif

ours usually sheds the mucas every 3-4 weeks , and it takes about 4 days to shed fully and return to being happy , it also gets a monk on if a hermit crab or something wanders onto it lol
