Commen name(s) - Powder Blue Tang, Powder Blue Surgeonfish.

Scientific name - Acanthurus leucosternon

Origin - Sri Lanka, Maldives.

Size - Up to 9''.

Care - The Powder Blue Tang is a popular fish due to its bold colours. It has a blue oval shaped body and its dorsal and pectoral fins are yellow. It has blue/black markings on its face and tail and also has a white anal fin and some white on the underneath of its face. This fish requires a 100 gallon+ aquarium, not only to provide it with plenty of swimming space which it requires but also because it can be aggressive to other tangs in the aquarium. Because of this reson, if it is to be kept with other tangs they must all be introduced at the same time. However keeping it with other tangs is not 100% reccomended. This fish prefers a temperature from 72 to 78°F, a s.g. from 1.020 to 1.025,a pH from 8.1 to 8.4 and a dKH from 8 to 12. This is not a fish for the begginner and requires a good amount of knowledge to be able to thrive, but once you have the knowledge and a mature tank this makes a great addition to a colourful reef system.

Feeding - Like all other tangs this one needs a good diet of algea and dried seaweed to keep it healthy. They will however take meaty foods too and this can be good for them but make sure that they get plenty of green food. Dried seaweed should be offerd at least 3 times a week to keep it in good health.

Sexing and Breeding - Very little is known about breeding these fish and very little information is available.
