Let it settle for about half an hour and see if that helps.. If not.. Them maybe do a water change?

its normal, it needed it be rinsed more. The first time I changed to sand I had the same problem, took me almost 2 hours to clean and the tank was still cloudy. It may take a day or so to settle, if it doesn't do 2 or 3 major water changes. I would keep your filter off as it may clog, but it would help clear the water faster.

Let it sit with filter running for 24 hours it should clear up. Mine took awhile to clear as well...

I had this happen to me, even after I cleaned the sand it still went murky, Place some fine filter wool in your filter (Preferably in front of all your other media) and it clears really quickly, it also stopped my sponges getting clogged... Mine still took a couple of days to clear however there was a noticable improvment after a few hours.
Cheers, Craig |

Give your filter a GOOD service now, its probably clogged the media - and check the impellor and housing for "gunk" Sorry to say the obvious, but the sand needs to be rinsed to death to avoid this... You really need to buy a Diatom D1 filter and stir the sand up and let the filter , filter out the small particles, otherwise your fish will stir it up everyday and will never settle down. Unfortunatly, real fine particles like that can hurt any the propellers and shaft on any filter, even canisters. Running a scrubbing pad will lower the chance.
Diatome D1 filter is VERY cheap and works better then ANY filter or scrubing pad to get your water crystal clear. |
