i went to my lfs about a week ago and seen 2 bicolour angel fish (not in the same tank) and i realy liked the look of them. i am realy considering on getting one way on in the future when i have got a bigger tank but could anyone give me any info on them or if anyone has any pics of theirs posting them would be fantastic. i want to know what they eat and how they behave. also will they get on with shimps and clownfish(thats all i have decided i want to be in my new tank so far haha)

i beleive they exibit the same behaviour as other dwarf angels e.g. nipping, there also borderline dwarf angel if i remeber they get a bit bigger then flame angels and coral beautys .... if i remeber correctly from the book!

We owned a Bicolour Angel for about two weeks and had to take it back to the lfs as it was so aggressive. It would constantly chase our Clowns, Anthias and Goby to the point that they wouldn't come out from the rock at all.
We excahnged it for a oral Beauty and peace has now been restored!

by the looks of it i dont think i will be getting a bicolour. i like flame angels also but they can come at costy prices. the same again if anyone has any info on flame angels or coral beauttys plz post and post pics aswel

From what I've been told the Flame Angels aren't very hardy fish and at about £70, it's a lot of money to pay. I may be wrong so best to get others opinions.
Our Coral Beauty is very peaceful and swims quite happily with our other fish. Food is generally Mysis, Artemia, Mussels, flake, marine pellets etc.

also heard flame angels arent very hardy but apparentyl as i found out coral beautys arent very hardy either, all about luck one day there look fine the next there just of died

yeh the price of the flames is abit of a shame. something is pushing me towards coral beautys i realy like them and i like the way one mamber had described one. but it is just the roll of the dice. you could get a peaceful one or you could get a terror. any pics welcome and thankyou for your replies once again

my ex-coral beauty only lasted 2 weeks i never figured out why it died either .... again its a toss up you cud get a nice healthy one or one that loosk healthy and drops

Somethin tells me the unfortunate unexplained angelfish death previous posters here have experienced was the result of cyanide trapping. The practice is all too common to try and stun fish with cyanide to make them easier to catch. Problem is, if too much cyanide is used (which is often the case) the fish suffers internal damage and dies shortly after transport/sale.

Dwarf angelfish are actually very hardy fish if you ask me. My old flame angel survived my 3.5 day power outage in which the tank had a mere 600gph worth of flow, no light, no heat, and temps dropped into the 50s... Came through just fine, no ich, no illness, no seeming stress once the tank was returned to normal. If you ask me, that's pretty hardy.

All dwarf angels can be moderately aggressive towards other fish in smaller tanks say 30-40 gallons. In larger tanks they're usually model citizens towards other fish. All dwarfs also have the ability to nip at corals, most often SPS, Open brains, or leathers, but I've heard tell of them nipping just about any coral they set their minds to. Some individuals will never harm a polyp in your tank, and others are destructive terrors... Unfortunately you never know until you get them in your tank at home. If you purchase one and plan to keep it with corals, make sure you're prepared to either break down the rock stack to try and catch the little bastage, or remove the coral it likes the taste of.

Ya I bought a Flame angel, he was $50, it was a bargain (not the price) because you have to hope to pick a healthy one, and luckily I got a great one, because him and my clown fish are buds, and he doesnt nip at corals, and he lets my shrimp clean him, which is cool to watch, but from what I have heard and experienced, I'm pretty sure dwarf angels are very hardy. I have heard of angels being torn up from other fishes and they healed fine, I'm not sure if they can survive very easily from deseases, but I think from injuries and bad tank parameters, they do pretty good. You shouldn't worry too much about it, I have heard way more success stories than failure stories. I think the only thing people need to worry about is acclimating them the correct way, which you should when your puting an investment like that into your tank. Sorry to hear bout your coral beauty. Did you ever get another?

thanks for all the replies. i realy am confused what to invest. i like flame angels and coral beautys. its a shame they cant be put into the same tank. another fish i like is a copperband but i have read that they are hard to convince to eat jut like manderins. anyone any pics and info on the copperband would be delightful

IMO, a copperband shouldn't be kept by beginners or in tanks under 150 gallons. Sure there are successes in smaller tanks, but they are the exceptions rather than the rule.
