So I was wondering what type of plants are favorites for the cichlids?

They are likely to eat most plants. Java fern and Amazon sword tend to survive quite well though.

I want them to eat the plant.
I want to have an area in the tank just with the plant so they can grub on thier own. Maybe I'll just have to use wafers and frozen food then. |
