Well, I was on a week long business trip and was informed by my mom that 2 of my 3 corys died. After I returned, it was deemed that my mom overfed and undercleaned their tank (Eclipse 6 in my signature)... caused a rather sharp ammonia spike.
I've since stabilized the water conditions. I went out this week to Petco and all they had was ONE cory left in the whole store! Long story short... I brought the little guy home. Yes, I realize that only gives me 2 corys, but I couldn't just leave the little guy there in goldfish poop-town. So now I want to go out and pick up 2 more corys... which would give me a total of 4. Just wondering if I should try to pair up the same types of corys to the ones I have now (jullii and albino). The albino shouldn't be hard to find at another Petco or my other LFS. However, I haven't seen either of these stores carry a Jullii in a while. So my question is does it matter if I have 4 different types of corys in my tank? Or should I spend my time trying to pair up the same species? I was thinking about getting one panda and one other type of cory. That would give me one cory of four different types (for a total of four corys). Thoughts? Confused yet? |

You're a good man, jaywings19. Unless you want to breed them, it's ok to have a variety of corys in your tank. They all get along well. But then, 2 and 2 would give you that option if you wanted it later.......... |

Thanks. Actually, he was really thriving in that tank... all energetic and scavenging. He's carried that same emotion to my tank too. His frequent activity seems to have calmed down my swordtail (who was the resident ball of energy). Not really looking to breed the corys, so that really isn't a factor. Just wasn't sure if the 1x1x1x1 scenario would have the same kinship effect than 2x2 or just 4. I actually like the jullii corys the best, but they are kind of hard to find in my area. I will probably pick up a panda cory and another cory (based on availability that day). Is it me or are corys hard to determine sex? I believe my jullii is a girl and the albino is a guy based on length and width. Just not sure. Not as easy to determine like my swordtail and platy were. Didn't realize you were in New York too! I'm in lower Manhattan. This post has been edited by jaywings19: Oct 27 2003, 02:54 AM |
