My lfs has 2 and I saw them the other day. I never knew there was such a thing as a freshwater barracuda.
They were about 4" and had razor sharp teeth. They were very aggro as I found out when I put my finger in the tank they charged at it. (might be because they thought I was feeding it tho. Since I don't know anything about them, I don't know their mannerisms) Anyone have any info on them or a scientific name? I'm not getting one but am curious. |

Thank you mogo.
That was a good site. I never even heard of these guys before the other day. Pretty interesting. Edit: Are you really thinking of getting some? |

Were they the gar shaped surface dwelling fish or the more pike shaped middle of the tank swimmers with a greeny blue colouration? Ive kept the latter for a short while (my first real predator wich the mrs made me get rid of when she found out it would only eat live fish

They were more pike shaped and while I was there at least, was middle swimmers.
Thanks for the info, CFC. |

the pink-tailed ones, SMB? RMSWillo had a few.. quite a while back. I semi-wanted them, but decided against it, just too aggressive for my tastes.

Hi Calusa. I didn't notice any pink on the tails but knowing nothing about them there could have been and I might not have noticed if it was real faint. They had them at RMS-MBH but not in the Strongsville store. Maybe it was just MBH's turn this time. lol If I had an extra tank I would have bought them once I found out how big they got but I don't think they'd last long with the fish I have now. |
